Good afternoon,
On Thursday, January 20th there will be a mandatory training for all BPS Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessionals are expected to complete the training after dismissal during their contractual work hours.
The training will consist of two pre-recorded segments and will be accessible through a link which will be e-mailed to all Principals and Paraprofessionals. Each segment will be approximately one hour in length.
Segment 1 will be presented by the Transportation Department and will cover Bus/Van Monitor roles and responsibilities and passenger management.
Segment 2 will be presented by the Special Education Department and will cover behavior management and de-escalation strategies.
Again, this is a mandatory training. Paraprofessionals will be asked to confirm their attendance and complete a survey at the end of the training.
Principals, we are asking for your assistance in ensuring that all Paraprofessionals complete this very important training. Please ensure that your Paraprofessionals have access to a laptop and a quiet space to complete the training on 1/20/2022. Also, if you have any Paraprofessionals in your building who do not regularly access their BPS e-mail will you please let them know to expect an e-mail with a link to the training? The link will be sharable so please forward to any Paraprofessionals who do not receive the e-mail link.
Kevin DaPonte will send an e-mail with a link to the training on Wednesday January 19th.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks, Tracy
